Not To Be Confused With
A non sequitur is a broken connection between premise and conclusion. It's the general category; many specific fallacies are particular kinds of non sequitur.
Latin for “it does not follow.” Even true premises can yield a non sequitur if the conclusion simply doesn't connect to them. Naming the gap — “how do we get from that to this?” — is often enough to expose it.
