If God is for us, who can be against us?

All Things Under Providence

Romans 8:28 is not a denial of suffering. Paul has already named groaning, weakness, and hope that waits. The promise is deeper: even what is not good in itself is not outside the hand of God, who works all things toward the good of conforming his people to Christ.

The Shape Of The Good

The good is not merely comfort or a changed circumstance. Paul names it: being conformed to the image of the Son. The Father's purpose is to make Christ the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.

No Separation

Paul ends not with speculation but with worship. Tribulation, distress, persecution, famine, nakedness, danger, sword, death, life, angels, rulers, present, future, powers, height, depth — none can separate believers from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
